Every great show has its planning stage. Three friends, Noah Daniel Bondoc, Dave Cuyler Cruz, and Brianna Elise Aguilar, all strived to establish a stage where performers of every kind can freely express themselves. From visual arts to melodic tunes to dramatic interpretive dance and absolute cinema of writing. On September 23, 2024, a meeting between the three friends and the program lead, Ms. Jhanine Barateta, shared their plan for a stage open to all performers. After a month of hunting for the best adviser for our club, we found the best adviser from our Filipino SME, Ms. Belle Christine Damloan. On the very same day, the Performing and Multimedia Arts Club opened its curtains to the students of NTC SmartClass.
October 22, 2024, was the Performing and Multimedia Arts Club’s first-ever club meeting. First on the agenda was, of course, the kamustahan. Students engaged in conversations, ensuring everyone was alive and awake. Then came the election of the club officers; the president, the director of the show, ensures and encourages each to do their assigned tasks, as well as the completion of the project. The vice president, the stage manager, assists the director with administrative tasks and project coordination. Secretary, the playwright, jotting down plans and keeping track of important details. Information officer, the usher, showing and informing people, guaranteeing that the audience has the best experience possible. Peace officer, as the name itself implies, establishes peace, ensuring that everything is in order. Finally, the club managers, the artistic director, the musical director, the drama teacher, and the choreographer, including an editor-in-chief, each handling the different aspects of the Performing and Multimedia Arts Club. After the election, members of the club talked about future plans and projects, one of them being a December Art Workshop.

Time flew by, and after weeks of preparation, it was time for our first event, our first-ever show: the Hybrid December 20 Year-End Workshop. Hosts Dave Cuyler Cruz and Brianna Elise Aguilar set the stage for the online set-up, while Johann Raphael Padero and Ysablle Nina Moralde took the floor for the face-to-face event. Participants in elementary and junior high school, virtually and in person, partake in an enlightening icebreaker. Hangman, played by the virtual participants, is a well-known guessing game where players attempt to guess the word by saying one letter at a time. After a number of failed guesses, the player loses. As for the face-to-face event, Sticky Note Wishes is a game where participants are given 5 sticky notes, where they will write one word or a short phrase to describe or send a wish to a fellow participant. They will then stick the notes on the back of the person they are addressing. Both these activities brought a wave of festive mood as they proceeded to the main event: the Christmas Decor Making: Crowns and Decorations! Participants are tasked with making a crown and a Christmas decor or ornament, as well as being given creative freedom, in under 30 minutes! Throughout those 30 minutes, participants poured their hearts out into their crafts, as each of their works reflected one’s creativity. The event ended with a photo op, leaving warm smiles on each participant’s face while the main program continued.
And now, Performing and Multimedia Arts Club Officers are brewing up their next big romantic act: a High School Musical Valentine’s Day Special where love meets no boundaries, as love can be expressed even through a screen! And get ready your confessions, as you’re given the chance to confess anonymously, unless you’re feeling brave enough! Stay tuned and be on the lookout for announcements!
