In the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine’s devastation in Lupi, Camarines Sur, the NTC SmartClass Student Council led an initiative to extend support to Colacling Elementary School. Through the donation drive NTC SmartClass Aides in Action, the SmartClass community united homeschoolers worldwide in a remarkable two-week campaign from October 28 to November 10, 2024. The drive raised ₱49,259 and gathered in-kind donations of school supplies. These contributions were used to purchase essential resources, including electric fans, cleaning supplies, and a TV, helping to restore the school’s learning environment and spark hope for its students and staff.
The campaign culminated in a handover ceremony on November 30, 2024, where the donations were personally delivered to Colacling Elementary School. Representing NTC SmartClass were Ms. Jhanine Barateta, the program lead, and Mr. Louie Lumangaya, the Academic Coordinator, alongside myself, Noah, the Student Council President, and my classmate Rachel Siquete. Joining us were Ms. Cherille Siquete and Ms. Rochelle Bondoc, the President and Vice President of the Homeschool Support Committee (HSC), respectively. The HSC officers were instrumental in organizing and mobilizing support for this meaningful initiative.

Despite the heavy rain, the team was warmly received by the school’s teachers and staff, who prepared a heartfelt feast as a gesture of gratitude and resilience. During the event, Student Council Vice President Dave delivered a moving virtual message from Singapore, while I shared words of encouragement in person.
The success of this initiative stands as a testament to the compassion and solidarity of the NTC SmartClass community. Ms. Barateta commended the Student Council’s leadership, highlighting how the project extended beyond material aid to foster empathy, service, and a shared sense of purpose.
In choosing Colacling Elementary School, we saw a reflection of our own community—small yet resilient, bound together by hope and a commitment to growth.
As the Student Council President, I am proud to have been part of this effort. This was more than a donation drive—it was a call to action, a demonstration of how unity can overcome even the greatest challenges. Let this serve as a powerful reminder that no act of kindness is too small, and together, we can build a brighter, stronger future for all.
