As technology advances, so does the education system, particularly with NTC SmartClass. This innovative platform offers a more interactive and flexible learning experience compared to traditional textbooks and worksheets. To better understand the impact of digital learning, we spoke with Lavigne Valera, a Grade 10 homeschooler in NTC SmartClass, who shared how the system has transformed her education.
With SmartClass, Lavigne’s day typically begins at 8 AM, though the start time varies depending on how she feels. She uses her free time to complete Integrated Performance Based Assessments (IPBAs), and when she needs help, she reaches out to friends or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). While she doesn’t follow a strict schedule, she maintains a flexible routine that aligns with her tasks, ensuring she takes regular breaks. Lavigne makes an effort to actively participate in synchronous sessions and dedicates time at the end of the day to unwind with loved ones and hobbies.
Like many students, Lavigne strives to balance school and personal interests. “I’m working on creating a schedule organizer to help me focus on both,” she says. By dedicating a week to completing IPBAs and taking a break afterward, she avoids burnout and enjoys her hobbies.
SmartClass has had a profound impact on Lavigne’s life. “It has taught me to manage my time better, prioritize my health, and stay motivated,” she shares. Beyond academics, SmartClass has helped her develop valuable life skills, such as problem-solving, discipline, and independence. As she puts it, “It’s the best decision I’ve made for my last year of junior high.”
