Stories have the power to help us understand the finest details of life, from experiences that are part of our everyday, to those that are foreign to us. They expose us to the lives of others, so that we may instruct ourselves to more closely understand all of humanity, and in doing so, take what we might think is different and show us how we connect. We tell stories to place ourselves within the narrative of the world.
The following is a collection of the stories of the Social Justice Academy Class of 2021. The students reflected on their own lives to write these stories. The collection represents the practice of telling our own stories with respect and truthfulness.
We hope that when you read our stories, you recognize your own.
