Welcome to the

SLU ATC

The Academic Technology Commons During COVID-19

Many have asked us, "What does ATC do now with so much of the SLU community functioning from home?"

1. ATC has maintained an on-campus presence during the pandemic to enable laptop and equipment check-out to ensure that our community still has the tools they require.

2. ATC is active in the production of face shields for medical personnel by providing its 3D printer and other supplies, as well as using its social distancing-friendly space for final assembly and packaging.

3. Perhaps most importantly, many of the services that ATC has supported historically – video-conferencing (now with Zoom), lecture capture (via Panopto), and our learning management system (Blackboard Learn) – have become mission-critical in these times. Our history of exploring innovation has given us the experience needed to help our faculty, staff, and students remain connected and continue teaching and learning, even when we can no longer be present in the same room.

Even before Pius suspended face to face interaction, ATC began teaming up with personnel from SSM and Cardinal Glennon as well as SLU's new Center for Additive Manufacturing to help fill the gap in PPE.

ATC, CAM and students from Parks college of Engineering worked to remix and finalize a design that best utilized the materials at hand with the final products delivered to the hosptials at SLU and other medical facilities in under-represented communities.
