Ignite Seminar/ Assessment

Near the end of each semester, the Core and the Office of the Provost invite all students in an Ignite Seminar to complete a Qualtrics survey aligned with the NSSE (National Survey of Student Engagement) survey to better understand and improve SLU's first-year experience. 

Unlike Blue Course Evaluations, which ask students to assess the course and instructor, the NSSE survey focuses on issues of student engagement and belonging at SLU and is instrumental for continual assessment and improvement of the Core’s larger first-year experience, which includes the Ignite Seminar and Cura Personalis 1: Self in Community. 

As of Spring 2025, over 2500 students at both the St. Louis and Madrid campuses have completed the survey. Their results have been compiled and synthesized into assessment reports below.
