This project designed a hands-free mobility aid through an iterative design process. Individuals with lower leg injuries exhibit mobility issues concerning stability, agility, and comfort in current products as the balance of all three is difficult to achieve. High rates of lower leg injuries justify the investigation of an improved device that better aids the rehabilitation of said injuries. Through analysis of identified needs, a basis of specifications, functions, and respective function carriers are developed to encompass mediums through which desired outcomes could be achieved in designs. Furthermore, the project investigates a methodology of displacing body weight force above the injured portion of the leg through multiple mediums listed in the alternative designs. Finally, these alternative designs are examined and reevaluated for future design development.
