As a proposed solution to the concerning problem of waste on beaches, the Girls and Co., a group of mechanical engineering students, have designed a built a beach cleaning device. The prototype of the device, also called SANDY, is energy efficient and uses sustainable materials in its design. After months of preliminary research, several design iterations, and extensive calculations, the team modeled and designed a machine that flings sand and waste into a removable mesh bin. It's design is concerned with user friendliness and protection of the beach environment. SANDY can have a positive impact on the way we deal with pollution on this planet.
