The LOMS band is the premier music program on the central coast. About 1 in 4 students at LOMS are currently enrolled in the band program, and that is only in three periods of instruction. The advanced band posted unanimous superiors at the Cal Poly Wind Festival in 2025. The advanced band also posted unanimous superiors at CMEA Central Section in 2026. The advanced band has been accepted to perform at Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Knott's Berry Farm over the last five years.

Troy Kutch
Troy Kutch is the director of bands at both Los Osos Middle School and Laguna Middle School in SLCUSD. He has held this position since 2024. There are nearly 240 students enrolled in the band program across the two sites.
Troy Kutch is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles. There, he earned a BA in music and education with Magna Cum Laude honors. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Arizona State where he specialized in curriculum development and applied behavior analysis. Mr. Kutch holds a single subject teaching credential in music in the state of California.
