In S3 Graphic Communication we cover the following topics:
3D CAD Modelling, Drawing and Illustration.
Construction Drawings.
Design Tasks.
Desktop Publishing and Graphs and Charts.
Sketching.
Using 3D CAD modelling software (Autodesk Inventor) pupils create a range of 3D models of everyday products. Pupils are also required to produce detailed technical drawings within this software and highly realistic illustrated images to showcase the product.
Pupils learn about the role of software in the development of building and construction drawings. They are given an opportunity to produce their own floor plans and site plans for a building of their design. This will be designed using sketching techniques but will also incorporate elements produced using software.
Some tasks will require pupils to think creatively and apply their graphic communication knowledge and skills to produce products and environments designed by them. In the example shown, pupils design and decorate a reception area within a cinema foyer.
Using graphic design software (Serif/Affinity), pupils will plan and create detailed and interesting graphics. These range from info graphics, to digital and printed displays.
Pupils will develop a range of 2D and 3D sketching skills as part of this course. Sketches may display every day products, environments, colour/materials and technical details.
