Pupils spend 1 period per week in the Technical Department. To allow pupils to develop a range of skills, the academic year is split into two blocks – Graphic Communication and Practical Craft.
S1 pupils will learn the following skills:
Manual graphic skills
Freehand sketching for 2D & 3D representation of everyday objects.
How to apply colour and tone to an everyday object for a more realistic graphic representation.
Colour theory and the role colour choices play in our lives.
Computer graphics
Basic 3D modelling
Basic Desk Top publishing layouts and principles.
Throughout pupils will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of both manual and computer generated graphics within our world. These basic introductory skills will be further developed in S2.
S1 pupils will learn in a hands on practical way skills in:
Workshop Safety and good practices
Introduction to hand tools & machinery
Working with different materials
Marking, cutting and assembling components and finishing Products
