Frequently asked questions
I don't have access to a credit card or online banking. How can I pay the application fee?
Don't worry, Skyy has got your back. Just call us on 021 001 8791 or reach us on WhatsApp at 079 024 3615, and we'll send you a payment link to accept. We'll also provide you with all the necessary details to make a direct deposit at the bank.
Where is Skyy Aviation Cape Town based?
Skyy is based in Cape Town city.
5th Floor
30 Waterkant Street
Cape Town city
The building has 24-hour security with controlled access. Additionally, parking is available at student rates. Our location is incredibly convenient, situated only 200m from the central public transport hub and just 30 meters from the closest My Citi stop. You'll find over 15 fast-food restaurants in the area, making lunchtime meals a breeze.
Does Skyy offer student loans or bursaries ?
It is important to be aware that Skyy does not offer any bursaries or internships. However, you have the option to apply for a student loan, which can help make our aviation dreams come true.
Thinking about applying for a student loan…Great! Most of the major banks can help by you simply clicking on the link for a callback. It’s always best practice to first verify if you qualify for a loan before signing up with Skyy Aviation. Skyy Aviation is not a financial institution and therefore cannot provide financial services.
Skyy accepts all payment methods, but fees will still be charged until the funding is verified in Skyy's account. After verification, you will receive a 100% refund on all fees paid.
Am I guaranteed a job?
At Skyy, we cannot guarantee job placement, but we do provide career resources to all of our students. Our recruitment coaching program includes a career pack with information on airports, airlines, and other aviation-related companies that students can apply to. Many of our graduates have found employment in various roles within the aviation industry, including ground positions at airports or airlines, as well as flight attendant positions both domestically and internationally. Additionally, we regularly share aviation job openings on our Facebook/socials page for our students to apply to.
Can I study if I am a foreigner?
Many foreigners study at Skyy Aviation in our Cape Town and Durban branches. If you have a valid passport, a South African matric pass and have been living in South Africa for more than five years, you can also join.
However, if you are not living in South Africa, different policies will apply, such as:
1. Valid passport to be submitted
2. Equivalent of a South African Matric is required (documented) or must obtain confirmation of equivalency from the South African Qualifications Authority (https://dfqeas.saqa.co.za/dfqeas/user/home)
3. 70% Fees are to be paid in full upon enrolment (not living in SA)
4. After enrolling, you must apply for a study permit, and once you obtain it, you need to submit it to Skyy Aviation.
5. Note all courses are conducted in English only
6. Proof of address in South Africa (lease or bank account )
Does Skyy offer accommodation?
While Skyy Aviation does not provide accommodation, we recommend searching for options in the city centre where the campus is located. Alternatively, consider neighbourhoods such as Observatory, Rosebank, or Rondebosch, which are great student accommodations.
The closest My Citi stop to the campus is "Pull man Hotel on Riebeeck Street"

Can I join even if I don't know how to swim?
Swimming is only required for cabin crew training (Option 1, or 2). If you pursue this training, you will have the chance to learn how to swim within the first five months of your program.
What if I am shorter than 155cm?
Many local airlines have a minimum height requirement of 156cm for their flight attendants because of the smaller size of their planes. On the other hand, some international airlines typically have a requirement of 212cm reach (which can include standing on tiptoes). At Skyy, we advise individuals shorter than 155cm to carefully consider their options before pursuing flight attendant training, as there may be limited job opportunities for them. However, if they know the potential challenges and still want to pursue this career path, they are welcome to complete the training. We also offer ground aviation courses (Option 4 or 5) without height requirements.
I have tattoos?
It's important to be aware that different airlines have varying tattoo policies. Some airlines may permit tattoos as long as they're covered by uniform. However, other airlines may prohibit tattoos altogether, regardless of their location on the body.
Does Skyy offer online and part-time training?
At our Cape Town branch, all training programs are full-time due to their nature. However, if you are interested in ground aviation courses and prefer online training, our Durban branch offers that option. For more information, please visit our website at www.skyyaviation.com
Does Skyy offer pilot training ?

However, if you are keen to further your knowledge within the aviation field and better understand the industry, please have a look at the courses we have on offer
We offer a wide range of aviation ground, operations, ramp, reservations, flight attendants and air cargo.
