National Honor Society

I pledge to maintain high academic standing.

I pledge to hold as fundamental and worthy an untarnished character.

I pledge too endeavor intelligently and courageously to be a leader, and to give of myself freely in the service of others.

In doing so, I shall prove myself worthy of a place in the National Honors Society.

The Soaring SkyHawk Chapter of the National Honor Society is not an honor roll but rather a group organized to encourage the development of character and leadership, to further scholarship, and to render service. The chapter by-laws state that membership shall be based on Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. Eligibility for membership includes a class standing of junior or first semester senior and a minimum GPA requirement of 3.7 weighted cumulative (rounded from at least 3.650), and enrollment at Skutt Catholic High School for at least one semester. Beginning with the Class of 2025, students will need an additional 25 service hours above the Living the Gospel Requirement in order to be invited to apply for membership. These hours must be logged and verified in Helper Helper prior to the start of each semester in order to be counted towards candidacy for NHS. Candidates will be invited to provide evidence of character, leadership, involvement in school and/or community activities, and service to the faculty council through completion of an information form, and a written essay on a specific topic provided with the information form, as well as character references.

Membership in the National Honor Society is a privilege and not a right. The character of the members of the Soaring SkyHawk Chapter of the National Honor Society is regarded with utmost importance. A measure of character will be the student's school conduct. Offenders of the school code, as evidenced by an accumulation of five demerits, violations of the Good Conduct Policy, and/or violations of the Principles of Academic Integrity limit the possible acceptance into the chapter and may jeopardize retention for any chapter member. In addition, members must complete additional service as a condition of membership.
