Vice Chancellors Message
SKUAST-Kashmir is one of the leading farm universities in India that caters to North-Western Himalayan hill and mountain agriculture. Since its inception it has been our consistent endeavor to help state in achieving the food and nutritional security imperatives and fulfill the aspirations of various stakeholders. Our broader objectives of creating a competent human resource and provide technology back up and outreach have shaped our activity landscape and we are consistently striving to work for improving overall quality of life encompassing food, nutritional and economic security as well as work towards a broader objective of improved one health (plants, animals, humans, soil and environment). The institute is blessed with high-tech laboratory “Research Centre for Residue & Quality Analysis” (RCRQA) established in 2012 at SKUAST-K Main Campus Shalimar, Srinagar. RCRQA has developed an expertise in the specialized area of Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Pesticides Residues, Heavy Metals, Quality Evaluation of Natural/Herbal products and chemical finger printing of Biological Products. The laboratory is fully equipped with highly sophisticated analytical instruments for undertaking various challenging research programmes. The laboratory is NABL accredited in the field of Chemical Testing as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and is only such laboratory in the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh. The laboratory caters to the requirements of students, scholars and farmers from both the UT’s with ease of access and reliability. RCRQA has experienced and trained scientists well versed with spectrophotometric and chromatographic techniques.
