Dear Parents & Friends,
Today we complete our first full week of the Term and already considerable learning has taken place in our classrooms. Most importantly, teachers and children have developed class expectations and rules to ensure learning can take place in a safe and supportive environment.
This year three simple statements will form the basis of our school rules and each of these will be discussed at length to ensure every person at St Kevin’s understands what these rules mean and why we have them. I would really appreciate if all parents could ask their children about our school rules, what they mean and perhaps how they could even be used at home.
A very big thank you to all parents who were able to attend our Welcome and Information evening on Wednesday and of course to our P&F who organized our refreshments and the ice-cream truck for our children. Whilst the major focus of these events is around our children’s learning we can never underestimate the importance of creating opportunities to strengthen our community relationships.
Classroom Parent Reps
Thankyou to the following parents who have volunteered to be this year's Classroom Reps. This is a very important role and one which helps considerably in the link between home and school. If your class rep does not already have your contact details could you please email them.

A reminder that this Sunday 10th February all families are invited to attend a Commissioning mass to be held at St Kevin’s Church commencing at 10.30am . At this mass all school staff, students and families will receive a special blessing as we begin our journey together at St Kevin’s. Our Year 6 students will also receive their commemorative tops and leadership badges.
A reminder that the whole school will take part in a Hockey Incursion on Monday 11th February. All students are to wear their full sport's uniform.
We have set dates for two school Open Days and these will be held on Tuesday 12th March and Wednesday 27th March. Several advertising boards will be organized advertising these in the coming days. Advertisements will also be placed in the Caulfield and Moorabbin Leader. If you know families with children in local kinders please encourage them to attend our open days.
Next Friday afternoon 15th Feb at 2:50 we will gather again as a school in our Open Area for a Year 5/6 assembly and presentation of class and principal awards. At today’s assembly our SRC Reps from each class were presented with their leadership badges. I will include photos of these students in next week’s news. Children who have celebrated a birthday will be presented with a birthday certificate.
LOTE Italian - I would like to introduce Mrs Lena Sirianni who will be joining our team from Monday to teach Italian to our children. Lena is a dynamic, passionate and dedicated teacher who I truly believe will add great value to the learning at St Kevin’s.

We’ve been selected to participate in Local Matters at Grill’d Carnegie this February!
Local Matters is the Grill’d community donation program that sees each Grill’d restaurant donate $500 back into the community every month. The donation is split between 3 local community groups $300 / $100 / $100.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
We’d love your support in receiving the highest $300 donation! Simply head to Grill’d Carnegie during February for a burger and pop your Local Matters token in our jar. The group with the most tokens at the end of the month receives the largest donation.
It’s a simple (and delicious) way to show your support!
