Principal: Chen Minghui
Founded on April 1, 1951, Sankuang Elementary School was the third elementary school established in Sanchong District. Named "Sanchong Township Sankuang Elementary School," it started with 40 classes and 648 students, transferred from Sanchong Elementary School of Taipei County. The first principal, Zhang Zhan-ao, was appointed by the county government. Located by the Zhongxiao Bridge and Tamsui River, the school covers an area of about two hectares. The name "Sankuang" derives from the interplay of sunlight, moonlight, and starlight, symbolizing the school's vision.
In 1958, the school had 65 classes and over 3,700 students. Due to the high student population, over 1,000 students were transferred to the newly established Zhengyi Elementary School. By 1969, the school had grown to 119 classes with over 7,200 students, making it the largest in Taipei County. To address overcrowding, more than 2,000 students were transferred to Guangxing Elementary School in 1970, and another 2,000 to Jimei Elementary School in 1995. By the 2002 academic year, the school had 32 classes and 1,027 students, just one-seventh of its peak size.
In 1968, Taiwan implemented nine-year compulsory education, and the school was renamed "Sanchong City Sankuang Elementary School of Taipei County." To extend the reach of education, a daycare center was established in 1983 and later converted into an affiliated kindergarten in 1986. In 1994, a supplementary school was added to provide essential life skills for underprivileged adults.**
Since its establishment, the school has thrived thanks to the dedicated efforts of successive principals, faculty, parent committees, volunteer teams, and community education advocates, collectively upholding the mission of nurturing future generations.
In the 1990s, with aging school buildings, the school underwent a two-phase reconstruction project starting in 2000, supported by local advocates and the county government. The project was completed in 2004, providing a modern, beautiful campus to enhance students' learning environment.
In the 110th academic year, Sankuang Elementary School was upgraded to a bilingual model school, enhancing teaching quality and faculty training with the vision of "Humanities, Innovation, Gratitude, and Health." The school offers specialized courses in bilingual education, fencing, saxophone, violin, pottery, and food and agricultural education.**
The school aspires for parents, teachers, and students to work together to establish Sankuang Elementary School as a model of "Brightness, Brilliance, and Excellence."
