Sustainable environment and energy infrastructure on Swedish Islands

Funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Neither the European Union nor EACEA can be held responsible for them.

Aim

One of the two objectives of this project is to spread knowledge about what it is possible to do to reach zero CO2 emissions as a small island community. The other is to get one or two participating islands to apply to become one of the "30 for 30" islands to get technical support to reach this goal in the Clean Energy for EU Islands (CE4EUI) secretariat's call in June 2023.

Implementation

The activities to reach these goals are digital workshops and a study visit to Samsø. Participants in these workshops are islanders and representatives from local public agencies and other local stakeholders.

Result

The goal is to stimulate that sustainable environmental and energy projects and national or European collaborations with a grassroots perspective can be started in Swedish archipelagos.
