1st Grade

"A friend loves at all times."  Proverbs 17:17

Mrs. Tedesco

I grew up in a small town in northern New Jersey.  I attended Academy of Our Lady, then went on to graduate from Paramus Catholic as the salutatorian.  I have a B.S. in Education and Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from York College of PA.  I have been working in the field of education for over 20 years.  I taught at St. Andrew the Apostle School in Clifton, NJ and Lincoln Charter School in York City. After the birth of my 4th child in 2013, I began working at St Joseph's School in the computer lab.  After 5 years I was blessed with the opportunity to help our students succeed through the instructional support program.  In 2021, I returned to the classroom as a 1st grade teacher.

My personal teaching philosophy is that children learn best when they feel safe.  Our classroom environment encourages my students to take risks and try new things.  We learn that making mistakes is okay and we are all life-long learners.

When I am not at work, I am kept busy with my 4 children.  My husband and I enjoy watching them play sports, listening to them play the clarinet and trombone, and encouraging them to find their passions in life.  We enjoy yearly trips to the Adirondacks to unplug and spend time relaxing as a family.

Mission Statement

St. Joseph School, York, is an educational community, with Jesus as our cornerstone. We educate the whole child through academic excellence and faith preparation through the Roman Catholic tradition to enable our students to serve as Disciples of Christ in our global world.

Classroom Saint

St. Dominic Savio is the patron saint of young students. The feast day of St. Dominic is celebrated on May 6th.  On that day we reflect on his  the example he set for us. Even at a young age, he had a deep devotion to God and lived a life of holiness.
