Welcome to Ms. Lam’s Math 7!
Dear Parents or Legal Guardians,
I am excited to announce that I will be your student’s Math Teacher for the 2018 - 2019 school year. To tell you a little bit about myself, I graduated from UC Berkeley with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Welfare. Education has always been something I am passionate about—I taught, college-advised, and mentored students from culturally diverse backgrounds. I also started Reach 1600 Foundation, a nonprofit that provides a free adaptive SAT preparation for students in underserved communities. I must say, out of all the schools I’ve been to, Willow Glen Middle is certainly one of the best. The administration team here is very supportive and the teachers really care about the students.
If you did not know already, San Jose Unified School District uses the Springboard Curriculum that is directly aligned with the Common Core Standards. My course will combine a mixture of instructional content, interactive hands-on activities, and assessments to develop your students’ problem solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills. Your students will leave my classroom with not only the tools for future mathematical courses but the ability to apply math to analyze, justify, and solve real-world issues and challenges. I hold high expectations for every student and I believe every student has the potential to succeed. It is our responsibility to help them achieve their full potential.
If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your student, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Email is the fastest way to reach me and I will do my best to respond within 24 hours. I am excited to have you join our journey to helping your student be the best version of him or herself.
