A fourth grade teacher at a Catholic school in North Philadelphia with classroom experience in private classroom settings, grades Pre-K to 8th Grade. I have completed practicums at the Catholic school, Gesu School, and obtained the Pennsylvania Educator Certification Test (PECT) for Pre-K to 4th Grade.
Of the values witnessed in school administrators, I truly believe that education can bridge the gaps in society. As an educator in the City of Philadelphia, I have prioritized creating a safe space for my students - one where students have the freedom to express who they are and to leave the classroom better than when they came in. Each individual experience gained from each of my students has shaped my perspective on the significance of education. With my Master's of Science in Education (Pre-K to 4th Grade), I will present the opportunity to transform myself and provide the necessary services to the diverse needs of the community. I intend to continue to encourage students to prioritize their mental health, challenge social constructs, embrace cultural diversity, and promote both intellectual and emotional development.
I anticipate to pursue my research interests include: student engagement; student voice; youth organizing for educational change; youth activism; youth leadership; youth-led participatory action research; youth civic engagement; urban education; and educational policy.
