Three hilarious but polar opposite girls are all going off the university. This comic book series goes through their lives as they learn to become adults through trials and tribulations. The first graphic novel in the series starts with character development of each main girl; Susan, Ester, and Daisy. The graphic novel does a great job with character development and showing each personality not only through illustrations but through dialoged as well.

Many times while having conversations with teens, they always mentions wanting to grow up sooner and move away. This graphic novel, Giant Days, by authors and illustrators John Allison, Lissa Trieman, and Whitney Cogar gives a peek into what university life really is... and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Each of the three girls wants to be their best and true self, but this takes a lot of trial and error. The life lessons in this graphic novel truly follow the coming of age storyline as all three girls grow up and grow closer together as friends.
Friendship is a theme found throughout this graphic novel series. An activity that a library could do to discuss and talk about Giant Days, by authors and illustrators John Allison, Lissa Trieman, and Whitney Cogar is to create a friendship diagram. Teens could do this on a piece of paper or on a white board. Teens would create a friendship Venn diagram. They would do a circle for them and a circle for their best friend or potential qualities they would like in a best friend. Where do the circles differ? Where do they overlap? Is it important to have aspects of both in a friendship? Questions like these and more could be asked to the young adults after their are done with their friendship Venn diagrams.
Part of leaving for college is the blank slate that you are given to redefine who you are. Giant Days, by authors and illustrators John Allison, Lissa Trieman, and Whitney Cogar is a wonderful graphic novel that shows the journey of three girls and what they go through during their college experience. This is a book about college girls and therefore it has college themes and topics included within. Their are certain books within the graphic novel series that include discussion of sex, drugs, and alcohol consumption. These topics may not be suitable for younger readers.

This graphic novel series is full of life lessons that are important to teens and young adults to learn. They are well written and well illustrated. They are a popular graphic novel series that most libraries have that can be utilized for programming and more.
