This graphic novel is a collection of all Tillie Walden's short stories. The short storied include are The End of Summer, I Love This Part, A City Inside, and What it's Like to be Gay in an All Girls Middle School. The End of Summer is a bit of a confusing story about a Lars, who is battle a serious illness and is unable to leave the castle in which he lives. He has a large cat a companion that keep in company and keep him sane. I Love This Part is a teen romance story that takes place in a small town. The story follows a duo who like to watch videos together and share their life stories. A City Inside is a story that take you through a women's life. The short stories included in this graphic novel are peculiar and sometimes eerie, but all have great life lessons if the readers is willing to dig for them. The illustrations are are contrasted with bright colors and lots of gray and black. The graphic novel sets the tone for the stories told and helps the readers envision what author Tillie Walden wants to paint for the readers. This is not simple graphic novel that teens can pick up to past the time, but rather a graphic novel with a deeper meaning that readers may have to dig for. Through digging, there are lessons to be learned, and yet every person that reads Alone in Space may come out of it with their own unique perspective.
A fun program that would be easily implemented is a coloring program with light music. Being a teen can be stressful and giving them the opportunity to destress through art is always a great idea.
If you are looking to escape from reality and escape to a world like no other, than Alone in Space by Tillie Walden is the perfect graphic novel to pickup. Included are four short stories that are written and illustrated by Walden. They are stories based around her life, but with mixed in fantasy and in depth story telling.

Potential Challenge Issues and Defense Preparation
This books is not well known nor does it have any awards and honors. It is not an easy nor a fun ready, but it is a graphic novel that when read, teens really like. The difficulty here would be having the teens want to check it out. It is beautifully illustrated, which would help but it can be a slow story at times.
The short stories that Tillie Walden has written and published have been brought up in many posts, sometime people that love them and other times with people that don't. This graphic novel compiles those short stories and give more depth, and literature to her original stories. Tillie Walden is also an example to youth because she is outspoken about her life being queer. Representation within literature is crucial for young adults.
