Mary Ann Harlan, PhD, is an associate professor at the San José State University School of Information. She is the teacher librarian coordinator. Previously she was a middle and high school librarian.
“School libraries can help students understand the various types of information streams. It’s really important we start managing our communication - what misinformation is, what disinformation is, propaganda and outright lies - and the way that spreads throughout society. That’s a challenge; it’s also an opportunity because we are particularly well suited to teach kids how to handle all that.”
