Initiate and complete evaluations
Track probationary review periods (for probationary employees only)
Provide timely feedback
Ensure documentation and signatures
Participate in evaluation discussions
Review and acknowledge evaluations
Use feedback for development
The process applies to the probationary and annual evaluations.
The evaluator prepares the draft evaluation. It is reviewed by the evaluator's manager, and upon approval, it becomes the final draft evaluation.
The evaluator sends the final draft evaluation to the employee and states that if they would like to submit any feedback or input, it must be sent by mm/dd (review periods listed below). To ensure the employee receives the full review period, the day the draft evaluation is provided does not count. Please allow one additional full workday for the employee to review the draft evaluation.
If the employee requests a meeting, one is promptly arranged at a mutually agreed-upon date/time.
APC employees: a meeting is arranged within 14 calendar days
CSUEU employees: a meeting is arranged within 7 work days
If no meeting is requested, the evaluation is finalized via DocuSign.
All staff (bargaining unit and confidential) evaluations require a one-up signer (MPP). The evaluation must be signed by the following individuals:
Employee
Evaluator (Appropriate Administrator)
CSUEU: the evaluator must be an Appropriate Administrator (MPP)
Teamsters (Unit 6): the evaluator must be an Appropriate Administrator (or non-bargaining unit supervisor)
Evaluator's Manager (MPP)
Google Folder Designation: The DRO or unit head (MPP) should continue to use the department's assigned Google folder to upload all staff evaluations (probationary and annual). Upload the evaluation OUTSIDE of the sub-folders; the Employee Relations team will be responsible for moving items into PROCESSED or PENDING CORRECTIONS, if corrections are needed.
