SJI 175 Learning Festival

We are pleased to invite you to the SJI 175 Learning Festival on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

The SJI Learning Festival provides a vital platform for educators to collaborate, connect and transform their professional practices. We aim to foster professional growth through the exchange of evidence-based practices, provide a platform for educators to showcase innovation, and strengthen partnerships across the wider educational community of practitioners. This sixth edition of the Learning Festival is also held in conjunction with our school’s celebration of 175 years of rich and distinguished heritage in Singapore.

The theme for this year's festival is "Celebrating Teachers as Architects of Learning in an AI-transformed World". Like architects who design with intention and a deep understanding of those they build for, educators today are called to craft learning experiences that are meaningful and responsive to the world their students will inhabit. That world has been profoundly reshaped by artificial intelligence - not only in the tools available, but in the very nature of knowledge, work and human connection. In this landscape, teachers remain irreplaceable, bringing the wisdom, values and human insight that no algorithm can replicate. Through this festival, we celebrate educators as purposeful architects, inspiring one another to create learning experiences that prepare students not just to navigate an AI-transformed world, but to shape it with confidence and integrity.

Keynote Address

We are honoured to have with us Professor Lim Sun Sun, Vice President (Partnerships and Engagement); Lee Kong Chian Professor of Communication & Technology at the Singapore Management University, to deliver her keynote address at the Opening of the SJI 175 Learning Festival. Professor Lim has extensively researched the social impact of technology, focusing on technology domestication by families, future of work and AI ethics. A prolific scholar, she has over 100 academic publications published in top journals, and we look forward to her insights on the importance of preserving meaningful human connections in an increasingly technology-mediated world.

Participants of the Learning Festival will join us in person at SJI from 2.00pm to 5.30pm. There are 22 concurrent sessions to choose from, conducted by presenters from SJI and many other schools to share their ideas and practices, across areas of pedagogical approaches, curriculum innovations, and student development initiatives. The sessions explore an extensive range of topics, such as leveraging AI applications and tools to enhance learning; fostering critical thinking, metacognition and conceptual understanding; improving assessment and feedback practices to develop self-directed learners; and promoting student collaboration and building school-wide cultures.
