Listen: Show respect by giving the performers your full attention. Avoid talking. Stay focused on the performance and appreciate the effort your peers have put in.
Applaud at the appropriate times to show your support, and offer encouraging feedback if given the opportunity. A simple cheer or smile can boost the performers' confidence.
Respect the Performers' Space: Stay seated and avoid moving around during the performance. Let the performers have their moment without distractions, and make sure your actions do not take away from their spotlight.
Be Open and Appreciative: Even if the performance style isn’t your favourite, respect the diverse talents of your peers. Keep an open mind and appreciate their bravery and creativity in sharing their work talents!
Be Open to Interpretation: Art can evoke different emotions and ideas. Approach each piece with an open mind, and appreciate the diversity of artistic expression, even if it’s not your personal style.
Engage Positively: Share thoughtful and respectful comments about the art. Celebrate creativity and effort!
You can ask yourself or others questions like:
What is the first thing that catches your eye in this artwork? Why do you think that is?
What emotions do you feel when you look at this piece? How does the artist create that mood?
What do you think the artist is trying to communicate through this artwork?
