Hello, my name is Kassie Beavers, and I was born in Houston, Texas, in the United States. I graduated from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi with a Teaching certificate in core subjects (EC-6) and with a teaching certificate in music (K-12) . Since then I have been teaching, learning, and growing in different schools and countries across the world for almost 14 years. I have spent time teaching in a small town in Thailand, a city by the coast in Indonesia, the capital city of Turkey, and the Northeast region of Brazil. I just completed my second year here at SJA Jeju, and I am absolutely loving it. We have such a great community, and a beautiful island here in Jeju. When I am not teaching and traveling, I enjoy activities such as running, hiking, surfing, and skiing. I also love playing the piano and reading a good book.
I am so happy to continue to be part of the St. Johnsbury Jeju community and feel strongly about the school's mission and values. As an educator I think it is so important for students to love learning and growing in their community. Through inquiry, student agency and ownership, and collaboration, students can thrive. I am looking forward to a great school year at SJA Jeju this year!

Hello, my name is Susie Ko and I am glad to be returning to the Grade 2 team at St. Johnsbury Academy, Jeju. I was born in Jeju, Korea and completed a Bachelor's degree in Law. I decided to work in the education field after I have taught English to elementary school students as a government scholar of the ‘Teach and Learn in Korea’ program.
When I was studying in Toronto, Canada, I achieved a TESOL-Advanced diploma (Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages) at King George International Business College. I started my career as an assistant teacher at Branksome Hall Asia and then I moved to St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju and became a founding member of the school. I have been enjoying teaching in international schools.
I believe that every student has individual strengths and great potential. I will support each student to have them grow in academic but also social skills. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, reading and spending time with my family.

Hello! I was born in Ontario, Canada and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Go Cubs! I was a student athlete at the University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!) where I received an endorsement in teaching English as a second language, a Bachelor’s degree in science of education and my Masters degree in curriculum and teaching. I previously taught grades 1 and 4 in the IB Primary Years Program at the American International School of Kuwait.
As an educator, I strive to help my students grow and develop into lifelong learners, creative innovators, and global citizens who are curious about the world. I believe learning should be centered around the learners’ needs, strengths, and interests. I promote a strong sense of student agency within the classroom through hands on inquiry-based practices. My students and I explore their curiosities to create meaningful and authentic learning experiences while building on our skills and attitudes as learners and humans.
I am extremely passionate about teaching and always strive to be a positive influence in the lives of my students, parents and colleagues. Swimming is another passion of mine. I swam for my university and was on the academic athletic honor role. I also enjoy playing sports, working out, yoga, reading, listening to music, photography, my cat Hugo and being surrounded by nature.

My name is Sophie Lee. I am so pleased to be joining the Grade 2 team as an assistant teacher.
I was born and raised on Jeju Island. As soon as I graduated from my high school, I left Jeju and earned my Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature. Curious and never afraid of challenging experiences, I started to build my teaching experience in 4 different countries, the Philippines, Hong Kong, the U.S. and Korea. For more than 6 years, I have taught students from the age of 5 to 50, but I am particularly enthusiastic in teaching lower elementary school students.
It is my greatest pleasure to help students and watch their development into outstanding individuals. I’m looking forward to an amazing year working with passionate teachers and students at SJA Jeju!
