I am currently an Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering at University of Hong Kong.

The main areas of my research are: soft wearable robotic devices, haptics, robotics, teleoperation, and flexible transmission mechanisms. The main application areas are medical robots, especially surgical robots, and haptic human-robot interaction.

Before joining HKU,  I have been a postdoc fellow with joint appointments in the Wyss Institute of BioInspired Engineering and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, USA from 2013-2014. Prior to Harvard, I was with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2010, working with A/Prof Louis Phee, focusing on endoscopic surgical robots. Between 2012-2013 I was a research scientist at EndoMaster Medical Pte Ltd, Singapore. From 2006-2010, I was with Institute of Automatic Control EngineeringTechnishe Universität München, Germany as a research assistant on human-robot handshake project "IMMERSENCE", supervised by Prof Martin Buss. I was awarded with my doctorate in Dec 2010.

Previously, I received MSc in Control Systems (with Distinction) from Imperial College London, UK; BSc in Automatic Control Engineering from Tsinghua University, China.
