Honarmandan 2- ZUFC 1

On a hot August night and in front of about 300 die-hard Zoroastrian fans at the John Elway Stadium in Granada Hills, ZUFC loses the return match against the Honarmandan (LA Stars) in the dying minutes of the game.  ZUFC had won the first match 4-3.

The game started promptly at 6PM, and ZUFC immediately took charge of the game and controlled the game.  Through nice passing by the midfield, Behrouz M. found himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalie but his hard shot missed the target by a few inches.  Minutes later, Bahman, through an individual effort brought the ball to the edge of  the box, and his nice shot hit both goal posts beofre bouncing back out.

A fast counter attack for Honarmandan that was started and finished by Randy resulted in the first goal of the game.  A few minutes later, due to an altercation with the referee, Honarmandan's captain, Sattar, was red-carded, and Honarmandan played the rest of the first half with 10 players.  After the goal, ZUFC once again took charge of the game and controlled the ball in the midfield and finally tied the game with a nice cross from the right side that was nicely controlled in the box by Ardeshir and tapped into the net.  The first half ended with score tied 1-1.

During the intermission, Team-E-Honarmandan's coach asked ZUFC captain and the referee to allow the Honarmandans to play with 11 players in the second half.  Since this was a friendly game, ZUFC captain and the referee agreed and allowed Honarmandan's team to play the rest of the game with full squad.

Mansour in Action
