Zoe Anagnostou is a graduate of the Department of Music Science & Art at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, specialising in Composition. She was born in Volos, in 1992 and she lives in Thessaloniki. She started her music studies at the age of five, following classes in violin and theory at Volos Municipal Conservatoire. Initially her violin teachers were G.Symeonidis and later, A. Grammatikopoulos. In 2000 she was accepted in Volos Symphony Youth Orchestra as its youngest member and in 2007 she became a member of Volos Symphony Orchestra. In 2009 she received a scholarship from the Friends of Music Society, Athens Concert Hall and she participated as a guest violin player with the Camerata Junior Orchestra of Athens. In June 2011 she completed a cycle of studies with A. Mimaios at Volos Municipal Conservatoire, obtaining her degree in Fugue, having previously obtained degrees in Harmony and Counterpoint. From September 2010, when she was accepted in the University of Macedonia, she has followed composition classes with E. Kikou and A. Zervas and from January 2012 until June 2014 with G. Kyriakakis. From November 2010 she followed violin classes with O. Yavroumis, with whom she completed her violin studies in June 2015, obtaining the Violin Diploma from the Melodia Conservatoire, Thessaloniki. Concurrently, from September 2011 until June 2015, she followed composition classes with T. Grounis at the Macedonian Conservatoire, Thessaloniki, where she graduated with a Composition Diploma. In May 2012 her work, “Storm” won the annual University competition in composition. Her works have been performed in concerts organised by the University Composition Department. She now works as a violin teacher and freelance composer.
