All counselling is confidential unless you give permission for particular information to be disclosed.

The exception to this is if I think that your life or the life of someone else is in danger.

I hope we can talk together about what we need to do before breaking confidentiality but this is not always possible.

The NZAC Code of Ethics requires me to take notes for us during sessions. You can ask to see these at any time. All notes are kept in a locked, secure place. There is 24-hour monitored security.

My notes are written on manifold paper, which means I'm able to offer you a copy of your notes at the time of your appointment. Many people take their notes with them each time they visit. Please consider your own safety and confidentiality when taking these home.

I engage in regular, confidential supervision of my work by trained, experienced therapists. This is to provide accountability.

Sometimes I may discuss details of our sessions with my supervisor.
