Our Ministries

Zion Lutheran Church offers an 8:00 a.m. and a 10:30 a.m. service each Sunday.  The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of each month and at each of the major holidays.

During the seasons of Advent (4 weeks before Christmas) and Lent (7 weeks before Easter), services are held on Wednesday evenings.  The 5:15 p.m. service is a shortened service designed for small (preschool & kindergarten) children and their parents.  The 7:00 p.m. is designed for families with older children.

In addition, servies are held on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and Easter.

Our school conducts chapel services every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during the school year.

Adult Bible Study

Zion Lutheran Church offers many opportunities for growth in God’s Word.  Classes cover topics relating to our life of faith over a broad range of areas and interests.  They are held on Sunday morning and at various times throughout the week.

Sunday Morning class typically cover individual books of the Bible, topics like marriage and family, and Christian doctrine.

Adult Information Classes are offered at various times through the year.  The class provides in-depth discussion of the basics of the Christian faith, including the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, Confession, and the Lord’s Supper.

Youth Sunday School

Sunday school classes are offered for children preschool age through high school.  The purposes of these classes are to help children develop Christian values, grow in the knowledge of the Triune God and grow in their commitment to life related service to God.  Throughout the year the children serve by visiting the Lutheran Community Home, proclaiming God’s Word through a Christmas program and making cards for shut-ins.

Cradle Roll and Windows Ministry

Families with infants are encouraged to join our Cradle Roll program and/or our Windows Ministry program.  These programs provide parents with information on their child’s Christian growth development from birth to age three.

ChristCare Small Group Ministry

ChristCare Small Groups provide a place for people to meet others and celebrate the fellowship we have in Jesus’ name.  While each group chooses their own topics for study, the date, time, and place of their meetings, etc., every ChristCare small group engages in four activities designed to help people demonstrate the care of Christ to others.  They include:

  • Biblical Equipping
  • Community Building & Care
  • Prayer & Worship
  • Missional Service

More information regarding ChristCare groups is available through the church office.

Visitation & Pastoral Care

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Parish Music

Martin Luther stated, “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.”  At Zion Lutheran Church, music is an important part of our worship.  We currently offer several avenues for people to be involved with music in worship at Zion.  We also look forward with eager anticipation to follow the Lord’s direction for Zion and its Parish Music Program to see what developments are still to come.

Currently, the Zion Adult Choir rehearses each Wednesday night from 7:00-8:00 PM.  This choir enhances worship with songs and anthems several times a month.  All high school age youth and adults are encouraged to participate in choir.

The Zion Adult Handbell Choir rehearses each Wednesday night from 6:00-7:00 PM.  This group also participates in worship services several times a month.  Please contact the Director of Parish Music if you are a high school youth or adult interested in this group.

Multiple opportunities exist for soloists and small groups to participate in worship through raising voices and using instruments to honor and praise our Lord.  Whether it is piano, singing, playing an instrument, or anything else, please prayerfully considers your God-give talent to participate in our worship.  We always enjoy when a brass ensemble, other instrumental ensemble, or vocal ensemble is part of our worship services.

At Zion, we continuously search for ways to actively involve our Youth in our worship services.  Music is one avenue in which we do this, whether a small instrumental ensemble may be formed, a vocal ensemble, or soloists.

Please contact the Director of Parish Music if you or someone you know has a musical talent or interest.

Youth Ministry

Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Zion Lutheran Church’s Youth Ministry Program strives to help each child live their life to the glory of God by searching and discovering God’s Word and Truth.  In this world of unending change, sin, and untruths surrounding us, it is crucial that we spiritually care for all of God’s children.  What does that mean?  God’s Word is the truth, the truth that we need to seek every day of our lives.  At Zion we offer various ways for our Youth to continue to seek and discover God’s truths and then apply that to their everyday lives. Our Lord has chosen each of us to be children of God in His Kingdom.

Jr. ZYO (Zion Youth Organization) is for youth in grades 6-8.  Currently we have Jr. ZYO Night every 2nd Sunday of the month, 6:00-8:00 PM in the Youth Room.  This is a time for a Bible Study/Topic, refreshments, games/activities, and events review/planning.  Each month Jr. ZYO also has another activity, whether it is a servant event, swimming, corn-maze, or another seasonal event.

Sr. ZYO is for youth in grades 9-12.  We currently have Sr. ZYO Night every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, 6:00-8:00 PM in the Youth Room.  We spend our time together in Christian fellowship, working through a Bible Study Series, event planning, refreshments, and other activities.  This group also has another activity once a month ranging from bike rides, laser tag, servant events, and a wide variety of other activities.

* Zion Youth also take part in congregational activities and worship throughout the year.  Many help with Vacation Bible School, acolyte, sing or play instruments in worship, usher, help with mid-week meals, and whatever else may come up!
