Zindra Help Vortex First Year Plan

ZINDRA HELP VORTEX FIRST YEAR PLAN
proposal 03-01-11 by Ginette Pinazzo, Ratatosk Independent, BBQBill Odriscoll

STARTING TEAM......
The Vortex begins with a small, close team of 3 people:
For each of the three main 'aspects' of the Vortex (3 aspects explained below), and 1 Linden representative
Optional: 1 facilitator-architect to set up the plan, .......

TEAM GROWTH......
The Three very general Aspects are: Sandbox, Mentors, and Outreach
The three responsibilities may certainly overlap and all will help each other. it is expected and understood that these areas of responsibility will change as the Vortex evolves, but to begin, we will want these three 'contact names' at least. It is probably safe assume that these 3 people should retain this initial commitment for the first 3 months, after which time, things may evolve. (the team members may choose more specific responsibilities, or alternate them, or leave entirely)......

FINDING GOOD TEAM MEMBERS......
To qualify, these individuals must satisfy these three concerns:
- Experience: not necessarily with their chosen Aspect, (though that helps), but good experience working with people, leadership skills, flexibility, social skills.......
- Reliability: must be on SL almost every day; fairly easy to access and stable.......
- Maturity: professional but also warm, caring, inspiring. No controversial record of ARs, or troubles with LL. ......
Note: the same types of standards will be applied to each and every trainee that becomes involved with the Vortex.......

STARTING PROGRAMS......
Each of the three Aspects will start off with a simple, obvious entry-level program. Once these starter programs are tweaked and running smooth, (assume 3 months for this phase) the next level can be implemented, and team members may evolve responsibilities as we go.......

Sandbox starts with Open Box Program:......
This is simply fine-tuning the sandbox's normal everyday operation to make sure any issues are addressed. This includes the  training of Guardians.......

Mentors starts with On-Call Program:......
This is mainly the development of an On-Call system, whereby visitors can 'push a button' and hopefully receive help from a mentor who TPs to the Vortex (or is there already). This includes the training of Mentors.......

Outreach starts with Roving Mentors (Ambassadors):......
This is basically a number of offsite mentors, who travel to the many regions of Zindra to spread goodwill, information and help. Roving Mentors do a little of everything: represent the Vortex's mission, meet and welcome Zindrans, perhaps do some surveying, pass out items, generally connect with neighbours. (this is the part that leads to growth of the Zindra Ambassador program) This includes the training onsite of Rovers.......

SECOND LEVEL PROGRAMS:......
Second Level programs are more like small events that are scheduled.

Sandbox Second Level: Workshops......
Like arts and crafts, these are onsite building classes based on completing a specific project.

Mentors Second Level: Classes......
Teachers are brought onsite to run educational events.

Outreach Second Level: Presenters......
Staffers are sent out 'into the field' to run presentations on topics at other sims.

THIRD LEVEL PROGRAMS:......
Third Level programs are bigger activities that may make real PR impact.

Sandbox Third Level: Contests......
SL- wide 'building' -type contests that are widely publicized.

Mentors Third Level: Discussions/Panels......
SL- wide celebrities/experts invited to lead lectures/group discussions

Outreach Third Level: Mediators......
The most innovative program, perhaps.....Our best 'mediators' are 'assigned' to work alongside projects elsewhere in Zindra, as a service to help groups/teams as a neutral party. Many mediator assignments would be longer term as the mediator must work closely on that specific project.

FINALLY: HUMOR......
The 'Help' industry doesn't have to be boring. It can be fun and funny. A constant stream of fresh ideas that inspire creativity should be a part of the Vortex's agenda.
