ZDT was established to give buyers reassurance of their investments into the Zimbabwean Diamond industry. We are a small Zimbabwean based private organization that works closely with the Zimbabwean mining industry, we represent large scale and independent licensed sellers.
We have a team that is ready to facilitate any transaction and insure safe exchange. Our mission is to develop the mining industry in Zimbabwe and allow for it to grow and compete with other suppliers from the African region. We work on a personal basses and our advisors at ZDT have been trading minerals for many years. We provide expert solutions for speedy no risk transactions, we cover local governing laws and work with an independent security firm with highly trained units.
Social and corporate responsibility
We recognize the importance of good governance for our business. To realize this fundamental goal, we aim to increase management efficiency and transparency by strengthening corporate governance and improving our internal control system.
Conflict diamonds are rough, uncut diamonds used by rebel movements or their allies to finance armed conflict aimed at undermining legitimate governments. In 1998, the Non-government Organisation (NGO) Global Witness brought to the world’s attention the fact that rebel groups were funding their war against the legitimate government in this way.
ZDT is working with governments in Africa and beyond through the United Nations and other international organizations to ensure we do not broker diamond deals that fund conflicts.
At ZDT, we can guarantee with 100% confidence that all of Zimbabwe diamonds are conflict-free there is no war in Zimbabwe nor any other form of fighting that can be described or defined as fighting or conflict.
ZDT Diamond Policy
Every diamond deal we broker is conflict-free and child labour free.
ZDT is aware of the problem of conflict diamonds and has taken measures to guarantee that no conflict diamonds enter brokrage system.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme18 started when Southern African diamond-producing countries met in Kimberley, South Africa, in May 2000, to discuss ways to stop the trade in ‘conflict diamonds’ and ensure that diamond purchases were not funding wars against legitimate governments rebel movements
Zimbabwe is part of Southern Africa with a very peaceful population and a strong transitional government that is working towards a free democracy. ZDT supports Zimbabwe and its past, present and future ability to administer a country free from conflicts.
In the future we hope to create a structure such as DEF we are currently finding local charities in Zimbabwe to endorse.
