Bofu ZHENG
Hi! Welcome to my homepage! I am currently a postdoctoral investigator in the Biology Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), where I work with Dr. Heidi Sosik, Dr. Weifeng (Gordon) Zhang, and Dr. Rubao Ji. Before joining WHOI, I obtained my Ph.D. from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at the University of California San Diego, advised by Prof. Drew Lucas.
Trained as an observational oceanographer, my research focuses on understanding how physical processes affect the planktonic communities and the biogeochemical environment in which they live. My specific research interests include submesoscale coastal circulation, phytoplankton production and community structure, nutrient dynamics, and autonomous ocean observing technologies. To investigate these topics, I use cutting-edge ocean observing technologies, including autonomous underwater platforms (e.g., Wirewalker) and high-resolution imaging systems (e.g., IFCB), to collect in situ biological and physical measurements. These observations enable quantitative assessments of the mechanisms linking ocean physics, plankton ecology, carbon cycling, and marine productivity.

a not up-to-date picture, but I like it :)
