100 Durgin Lane, Portsmouth NH

This shopping center opened in 2008 on site of a former Home Depot.  It all started years ago when Costco Wholesale Club opened a store at the end of Durgin Lane.  The store faced competition from a nearby Bj's Wholesale and in March 1996, Costco announced that they would close the Portsmouth location.

Shortly after, the building was transformed into a Home Depot, the first in Portsmouth which only had a Home Quarters Warehouse (HQ) but in Newington.  Home Depot built a brand new store a few yards south of their existing store and they moved in 2008.  Their former 128,000 sf. store was demolished and replaced by a 111,800 sf. plaza with a smaller parking lot.

Christmas Tree Shops and Bed, Bath & Beyond opened in the new plaza. A third retailer will join the two stores later.  This site is located alongside the Spaulding Turnpike, at the end of Durgin Lane passing by the Durgin Square (Shaw's) and PepBoys and behind Motel 6 and Saturn of Portsmouth.
