Background Information

                                        John F. (Jack) Kennedy 

    John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. Kennedy was nominated by the Democratic party on July 13, 1960 to run for President. Lyndon B. Johnson was asked by Kennedy to run with him as the Vice President. On November 8, 1960, Kennedy won against Richard M. Nixon. Kennedy was sworn in on January 20, 1961 as the 35th President.  On November 21, 1963, Kennedy went to Texas so he could give a few political speeches and then the next day (November 22, 1963), Kennedy's car drove slowly passed the crowds that were cheering for him when he was then shot. The car immediately went to the hospital and around 1:00 p.m. the President was pronounced dead. His body was put on Air Force One and at 2:38 p.m. the Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson sworn in as President on Air Force One.
