Yuzen Authentic Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
Seal Rock, OR

Yuzen is open  for business! We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
Kazu-san and his staff thank all their loyal customers for their patronage.

Long a land-mark in Seal Rock, Yuzen is located at 10111 U.S. Hwy. 101 North in scenic Seal Rock, OR, just across from the famous Seal Rock State Park, on the stunningly beautiful NW Oregon Coast, where, in addition to the amazing scenery, you can see seabirds such as cormorants and pelicans, and sometimes seals lounging on the rocks near the shore.

Though the building looks a bit incongruous, with a two-story full-color sushi chef image on what is obviously an Old World style building,  it makes sense when you know that the original business was a Bavarian restaurant.  Indeed, the stained glass windows each still hold the coat-of-arms of a Bavarian city.  However, despite the architecture, Yuzen is 100% authentic Japanese sushi and cuisine!

Kazu Bessho, the owner and sushi chef, is originally from Kobe, Japan, but has been in the US for 30 years. He previously served Japanese cuisine in Cypress and Anaheim, CA, and has owned and operated Yuzen for the last 9 years. Kazu-san has over 40 years experience, but he says he is still learning!

Kazu-san in the Sushi Bar

The sushi menu includes sashimi, tataki, maguro, and hamachi, among other tempting servings, each hand-prepared fresh by Kazu-san.

In addition to the sushi, Kazu-san and his staff offer a full and varied menu of authentic Japanese cuisine, including beef, chicken, seafood, and vegetarian dishes in traditional styles such as yakatori, yakiniku, sukiyaki, katsu, bento, and tempura, or as part of delicious udon and yakisoba noodle meals to name only a few.  Their rice is amazing, as is their famous Yuzen teriyaki sauce, which is a secret recipe. There are a full range of tempting appetizers (including sushi), and most dishes come with miso soup and salad with a great Japanese dressing, and a good selection of liquor, wines, beer and beverages, including their great green tea, brown rice tea, and ginger tea. For dessert, try some of the mochi ice cream. Mochi is made from pounded sticky rice with an ice cream filling, and is absolutely delicious!  Yuzen offers  green tea, mango, red bean and strawberry flavors.  See our menu for a full listing of tasty treats!
