Yumna Omar, Ph.D.
Financial risk and regulation
A research economist with policy, risk and regulation experience, Yumna currently works with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) as a planning and data specialist for the Division of Human Resources. Her research and academic career spans eight years and includes development initiatives such as co-authoring a gender diagnostic guiding the World Bank Poverty and Gender Unit in East Europe and Central Asia, publishing original work in mathematical finance and collaborating in the South African Land Claims and Redistribution and South African National Youth Survey research and surveying projects. As a teacher of economics, she specializes in macroeconomics and has held posts at Fordham University and the University of Cape Town. Yumna completed her Doctoral degree in Economics at Fordham University on a Fulbright Scholarship and also holds a degree in Mathematics and Business from the University of Cape Town.
