About Michael Tilson Thomas
Michael Tilson Thomas is the Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011. The Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony, Founder and Artistic Director of the New World Symphony, and Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, Thomas conducts the major orchestras of Europe and America and was the Conductor of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He is a noted composer, an author and a pianist. He has won ten Grammys for his recordings, is a Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France and in 2010 he was awarded the National Medal of Arts at a ceremony at the White House.

About Mason Bates
Currently serving as a composer-in-residence with the Chicago Symphony, Mason Bates is an American composer living in California. Bates’ music fuses innovative orchestral writing, the rhythms of electronica and techno, and imaginative narrative forms brought to life by cutting edge sound design. An advocate for bringing new music to new spaces, he has become known as an artist who moves fluidly between them, performing on electronic drumpad and laptop with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, or integrating members of the San Francisco Symphony into an evening of DJing at the San Francisco club Mezzanine. Highlights of the coming season include performing with Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony in The B-Sides, and curating the opening of New World Symphony's new Frank Gehry-designed hall.

About the Sydney Symphony
Founded in 1932 by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Sydney Symphony has evolved into one of the world’s finest orchestras as Sydney has become one of the world’s great cities.  The Sydney Symphony’s first Chief Conductor was Eugene Goossens, appointed in 1947; he was followed by Nicolai Malko, Dean Dixon, Moshe Atzmon, Willem van Otterloo, Louis Frémaux, Charles Mackerras, Zdenek Mácal, Stuart Challender, Edo de Waart and Gianluigi Gelmetti. The orchestra’s history also boasts collaborations with George Szell, Thomas Beecham, Otto Klemperer and Igor Stravinsky.

About Berliner Philharmoniker
Working with young musicians and making classical music available to a worldwide audience on the Internet are main objectives of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The orchestra is therefore delighted to support the unique project of a YouTube Symphony Orchestra.

About William Barton
William Barton is one of Australia’s leading didgeridoo players and composers and is a powerful advocate for the wider perception of his cultural traditions. Born in Mount Isa, he was taught the instrument by his uncle, an elder of the Waanyi, Lardil and Kalkadunga tribes of western Queensland. At 17 years, William played his first classical concert with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and since then has played with many others in Australia and around the world, at many of the most prestigious concert venues.  William was appointed an official ambassador for the Australian Made/Australian Grown Campaign promoting awareness of Australian goods and products, and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Griffith University Queensland Australia.

About Ed Sanders
Ed Sanders is a Group Marketing Manager for Google. Based in New York, Ed has been responsible for major global initiatives on YouTube including the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, and YouTube Play, a collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum.  Prior to this he led marketing for YouTube in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  A former media lawyer with a background in sport & entertainment marketing in Sydney, Beijing and London, Ed has an MBA from INSEAD and honours degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney, Australia. He has a vibrant passion for the arts, in particular for theatre, film and music; writing, recording and performing his own songs, usually while cooking.

About Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter is the Head of Consumer and Partner Marketing for YouTube in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Lee is responsible for some of YouTube's biggest and most innovative projects to date, including the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2 and 'Life In A Day' - an upcoming documentary film produced alongside Ridley Scott. Lee is also responsible for the development and launch of the Google Online Marketing Challenge - the world's biggest in-class academic competition. Lee's background includes marketing for tech start-ups, financial services and consulting businesses across Australia and Europe.
