Coming To YouTube Red in 2016

Los Angeles – October 21, 2015 YouTube today announced an all-new, original series,          Scare PewDiePie, starring Felix Kjellberg, better known to millions of fans as PewDiePie. Produced by the creator and executive producers of “The Walking Dead” franchise from Skybound Entertainment and Maker Studios, Scare PewDiePie will be available early next year on YouTube Red.

In a twist on his traditional YouTube videos, Scare PewDiePie is a reality-adventure series that takes Felix through terrifying real-life situations inspired by his favorite video games. Part prank show, part suspense adventure, Scare PewDiePie follows Felix throughout the experience, capturing every twist and turn along the way as he scares himself silly with hidden surprises around each corner. The show promises a completely authentic experience as Felix goes into every episode without knowing what he’s in for.

With nearly 40 million subscribers and over 10 billion views on his YouTube channel alone, PewDiePie is one of the world’s biggest digital stars. Though initially popular for his Let’s Play videos featuring horror-themed games, Felix’s channel also features sketches, music parodies, podcasts and fan-activations. "I'm so excited to FINALLY share what I've been up to!" said Felix, "Shooting a show like this in a completely new format has been so much fun! We just wrapped shooting but I still feel unsure every day if I'm safe or not from another scare. I can’t wait…”

“This has been a big year for Skybound and Scare PewDiePie is a huge part of what has made 2015 our biggest year yet. I am excited that we can finally talk about it,” said Robert Kirkman, creator of “The Walking Dead” and chief executive officer, Skybound Entertainment. “Working with Felix, YouTube and Maker Studios on this venture has been creatively exhilarating and just plain fun. I trust audiences will love the show as much as we loved creating it.”

The show is part of YouTube’s commitment to invest in new original shows and movies featuring some of YouTube’s most popular stars. “Our top creators have built huge, devoted fanbases,” said Susanne Daniels, Global Head of Original Programming, YouTube. “Original shows like Scare PewDiePie give our biggest stars the chance to fulfill even bigger creative ambitions on the platform where their fans live.”

“As the masterminds behind ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise, we couldn’t think of a better collaborator than Skybound for this exciting new format,” said Bonnie Pan, executive vice president of programming, Maker Studios. “We are also thrilled to work with YouTube to bring this unique experience to life for Felix, and hope he forgives us for all the scares!”
