Our EdTech Camp is Now Free!

Thanks to the Ministry of Education's Technology and Learning Fund, we are able to offer this spring's EdTech Camp for free to all YRDSB Educators and Staff.

In September 2013, all YRDSB staff and students gained access to Google Apps, the powerful cloud based tools that make anytime, anywhere, real-time collaboration a reality.  While some teachers will have already been using Google Apps through their personal Google accounts or as part of the pilot implementation project with the school board, we'd like to rapidly expand the number of teachers and education leaders who are aware of these tools.  Our goal is to support developing an understanding of the many ways they can be used to facilitate collaboration and learning.  The power of these tools to allow students and teachers to work together while engaged in inquiry or critical thinking processes is incredible!
YRDSB EdTech Camp is a one-day conference for YRDSB teachers, administrators and support staff to come together and gain practical insights into how to use Google Apps and other educational technology tools and resources in their schools.  CBC Metro Morning columnist Jesse Hirsh will deliver our opening keynote. A choice of one and two hour sessions will offered by YRDSB teachers who have been using educational technology in their classes.  Sessions will be offered on a wide variety of topics at various levels of expertise.

Date:  Saturday, April 11, 2015
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost:  YRDSB Employees: FREE

Target Audience:  This conference is open to all YRDSB teachers, administrators and support staff.

For the best experience at YRDSB Google Camp, we recommend that you bring a laptop computer that has the Google Chrome web browser installed. If you need to install Google Chrome on a personal laptop computer, please click here

Although there are many apps for tablet devices that work with Google Apps, using an iPad or Android tablet will not allow participants to get fully "hands-on" with Google Apps. Tablets may be appropriate as a secondary device.

Have something to share that isn't a Google Tool?

Awesome! We would love to showcase some of the other educational technology tools and resources that are being used in our classrooms.  Visit the Call for Presenters page to submit your application to become a presenter!
