Away back in 1998 a small group of young adults met at the Cistercian Abbey in Roscrea for a retreat. Over a weekend these young people entered into the peaceful atmosphere and rhythm of the monastery, joining the monks for prayer, listening to inspiring talks and sharing friendship
The response was very positive. And so by popular demand monastic Youth Retreats were born!

Young adults(18-40 years) from every walk of life attend. Most are searching for something deeper in life. This is really a search for God.'You have made us for yourself,O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you' wrote St. Augustine.
There are those already with vibrant faith while others simply wonder what life is all about.
A crisis along life's journey may trigger a need in a person that suggests a retreat.
A time of decision, great or small, may also be an opportune moment to consider a retreat. The retreat then can help with discernment.
Some express a desire to step aside from the business of their lives or desire to deepen their spiritual life. A longing to meet young friends in the faith is another reason to give a retreat a try
Practical Aspects
A retreat takes place one weekend each month at a monastic venue(fri eve- Sun. afternoon). They are Catholic retreats for young adult single people. Each person has their own room to facilitate reflection. Full meals  are provided which we share in a spirit of friendship and gratitude. We pray the psalms, the prayers of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the highlight of each day is the Eucharist (holy Mass). Each retreat has a theme and talks are based on this. Lectio divina, the prayerful reading of the Scripture, helps us to see how God is working in each of our lives.
'I have loved you with an everlasting love, so I am constant in my affection for you' Jr31:3
