War memorial research

In every community across Scotland there are war memorials, listing the names of those who fell in the 1914-18 war, and in many conflicts since.
Who are the people from your community, school or church whose names are inscribed on those memorials, but whose lives are perhaps now fading from memory?
In 2009 I chose to research the lives of the men who are remembered on the communion table in Davidson's Mains Parish Church, Edinburgh. It was a moving experience.Part of the resulting article can be read here.
