The Young Women's League Inc. supports the activities in all communities that work toward the improvement and sustainability of our natural resources and planet.

We joined the Earth's Natural Force Connections in their Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the Emery Height Community Center, 6701 Georgia Ave., NW., Washington, DC 20011.

Sponsors, families, and children were all there to celebrate and renew our commitment to helping bring awareness to the impact we have on our environment, not only now, but for our future.  We wish to thank its founder, Allen Burris for including us on this day to let our youth SHINE!

Members with donated purses
The Young Women’s League, Inc. provided much-needed resources to “women in need” in the Metropolitan DC area. A donation of 90 packed purses was made to the United Citizens Against Poverty  (UCAP).

This past holiday season we aimed to pack a purse, and needed your help! We asked our friends in the community to donate a gently used purse that you were willing to part with and pack it with much-needed items such as:
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Mouthwash
  • Comb
  • Brush
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Nail polish

YOUR support and contributions made a difference as always!  Thank you !!

In celebration of 77-years of continued service to the community, we were honored to have Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook as the guest speaker for our Inaugural Prayer Breakfast. The event was held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 9:00 am at the Peoples Congregational Church.Ambassador Cook (Ambassador Sujay), known as an international influencer, Business owner, Communications expert, Diplomat and Faith Healer, was the first female and African-American to hold the position of U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom. Appointed by President Barack Obama, she has represented the U.S. in 28 countries and more than 100 diplomatic engagements, bringing faith leaders and women to the Religious Freedom Table. She is a civil, gender and human rights activist, and has officiated the Funeral services for her mentor and Godmother; Civil Rights legend Coretta Scott King. She has addressed the United Nations, the UN General Assembly, and UN Geneva.Ambassador Cook's message of service, commitment, perseverance, and dedication inspired us all. Over 80 persons were in attendance. Ambassador held a book signing of several of her books, TOO BLESSES TO BE STRESSED, BECOMING A WOMAN OF DESTINY and SOUL SISTERS, at the conclusion of the breakfast.

We were excited to have her join us on this special occasion.
