                            The Passing of Ray Gilchrist

                                            Ray Gilchrist

The club was recently informed about the passing of Ray Gilchrist, a long time radio control flyer and a friend of the Young's Point Radio Control Flying Club. Ray was a retired businessman with a love of radio control flying and the construction of radio controlled planes. He really enjoyed flying electric planes and was one of the first flyers in the area to focus on electric flying. His planes were admired for the quality of construction and attention to detail.  Ray was always willing to share his experience and thoughts with fellow flyers and could be counted on to volunteer his services whenever something needed to be done. He will be missed by his fellow flyers and the club would like to express our sympathies to his family.

Why You Should Join Our Club?

No matter where you are along your interest in RC flight our club provides you with a great flying site.  With east / west and north / south grass runways that are well cared for with our own equipment you can have your choice of takeoffs and landing directions to suit the wind and your skill level.  We also have covered and un-covered flight stations complete with starter tables.
You can also receive, tips from all of the experienced flyers and mentorship / training in the "Wings Program" if new or just coming back to the hobby.
But more than all this, The YPRCMFC is a group of diverse, easy-going people from all walks of life who come to the field to have fun. The YPRCMFC is a place where families and friends feel welcome and included in our special events like Swap Meets, Fun Flys, summer float flys etc.  We are NOT an inhospitable exclusive “Hot Shots” club.  All skill levels are welcomed!

Come on out for some good social time and if you are thinking of joining our club, come and meet some of the gang at the field meetings.  Don't forget that  memberships for 2017 are coming up due again and cash in on the early bird sign-up.  Just fill out the Club Membership Form in the Club and Field Information tab and you can complete your MAAC by clicking the link provided on the left of this page.  Feel free to drop off your completed Club Form, club dues and proof of MAAC with any of the executives or at Lakefield Hobby and Game (THANKS CHRIS!!).  You will be provided the gate combination if you are a past, approved to fly pilot.  All new members are welcomed and information on joining our club or on our training program can be supplied by our Club Executives.

What's the Best About Our Club?

The people!  Like any great club, The Young's Point Radio Control Flying Club is filled with people who not only care about enjoying, teaching and learning all they can in the field of RC, but also care about their fellow flyers and folks that drop by our field or come to our special events.

Our RC Club is a great place for good times and just getting "stoked" when flying your favorite plane or heli.

Dear Members of the Young’s Point Flying Club:
Over the past flying season there has been a couple of times when we have flown a little too close to the farm to the northeast.  We have spoke about this situation at the fall meetings and have suggested a "no fly zone" be in affect for a large percentage of that area.  Please take extra measures to ensure a safe and curtious flight in that area.

Thank You for your co-operation in this matter.

For field guidelines look here.
