Young Park, Piano  

 Pianist Young Park was born in Japan, of Korean parents. She recently won the Young Artist Competition at South Orange Symphony in New Jersey and will perform with the orchestra in May 2007. She performed at 100th Anniversary as a soloist performing Shostakovich Piano Concerto No.1 with Rutgers Symphony. Her piano quintet performed at Celebration Concert for Korean-Mexicans in Yucatan, Mexico.


She was a first prizewinner of the Bradshaw and Bueno International Piano Competition, and as a result appeared at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in June 2005. She has also won numerous awards and scholarships, including the First Prize at Great Neck Young Artist Competition in  New York and Fried Nordman Scholarship Competition at Juilliard.  Ms. Park was a finalist in the Gina Bachauer Young Artist International Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1998.   In Korea, she was awarded the Grand Prize in the Korean Music Association Competition at the age of 8, the First Prize in the Korea Times Competition, and the Korean Scholarship Competition for Young Artists. 


Ms. Park gave her debut performance at the age of eleven at the Yurim Art Hall in Seoul Korea. She has already performed in a number of occasions at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, and in Paul Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Juilliard Theater at Lincoln Center, New York.  Other performances have included Harris Hall and the Wheeler Opera House at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, the Rachmaninoff Hall at Moscow Conservatory in Russia, and the Prague Piano Master Class Concerts in Czechoslovakia.


Ms. Park came to New York in 1994 when she was accepted by the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School as a scholarship student.  She has gone on to receive her Bachelor and Master’s degree at Juilliard under Herbert Stessin. While at Juilliard, she was a recipient of Morse Teaching Fellowship and, as its teaching fellow, taught in Public School System 11 in New York City.


She is currently teaching at Geneva Conservatory of Music in New York City and pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University as a scholarship student of Dr. Min Kwon. She is also serving as a campus director associate staff at Juilliard Korea Campus Crusade for Christ and visits James Lenox House Association as monthly concert series, Young Park & Friends.
