Runemark System

Valkyrie was selected to be the official name on the North American server by community voting poll. Every other names you've heard were simply a fan-translation by whoever created it or made up from other people cause it just sounded cooler. As for me, I have always identified it as "new 13th class" to avoid confusion and not give it a placeholder name like others have. Since the class name was finalized, I have renamed all of my "13th class" to "Valkyrie" now.  

This class can be compared to Warriors because of the edge system except this class can get up to 7 stacks. Specific skills will add runemarks that will visually display on the target, yourself, or underneath the target's HP bar. Accumulate these runemarks so you can use them on two skills such as Runeburst and Shining Crescent.

If 4 dots are displayed on your target, then you've accumulated 4 runemarks. If you defeat the target, your remaining runemarks will be transferred to you indicated by a circle displayed underneath you. Your points will only last for a limited time. I've counted that you have around 14 seconds without adding any points where it will disappear. However, hitting a different target while having runemarks on you will reset the timer back to 14 seconds again. 

Now to explain further about how runemarks can shift between you and the target. Using a skill that adds runemarks will be placed on one target at a time. If there are multiple targets, then runemarks will go to whoever you last hit. Defeating the target will transfer any remaining runemark to yourself so it doesn't disappear. Once you attack a target again with any skills, your runemark will transfer to that target. This can affect certain skills such as Runeburst for example where it will explode whoever has runemarks as shown on the video above. It sounds a bit complicated, but once you do end-game dungeon bosses then the point transferring back and forth is irrelevant since you are fighting only a single target. 



Ragnarok Meter System

The only purpose of this gauge is to use one skill that you learn at level 58 called [Ragnarok]. Each time you land a hit on a target, you will earn +5 ragnarok points towards your gauge (there is a glyph on two skills that increases it by +10 on each hit). You can accumulate up to 1,000 to be able to use [Ragnarok]. 

Also reaching at 1,000 points, you will receive a 1 minute buff where your ragnarok gauge bar will not deplete until it expires. You do have another passive that prevents your gauge from dropping in 30 seconds as long as you attacked any target to reset the timer. So what happens is that once the 30 second passive expires, you still have an extra 30 seconds left on your other buff before your gauge starts to deplete your points by -5 per second.

Slash XII

  • Attacking up to 4 consecutive times where each hit will recover small amounts of MP. 
  • The 4th hit will reset the cooldown of [Leaping Slash]
  • The 4th hit has higher chance to crit. (up to x5)

Evasion I

  • I-frame forward in the direction of your movement keys or straight ahead where the camera is facing if you are not moving. 
  • Cooldown will apply when using it 2 times in a row. If you wait 4 seconds after the first roll, then you may cast this up to 2 times again. 
  • If you use this skill at the precise moment of being under attacked, you will receive a buff for 10 seconds where the next skill you use will have 100% crit chance. 
  1. (4) 30% chance to reset cooldown.

Leaping Slash XII

  • Slash up and down with enough force to slam the target to the ground. 
  • Minion/Normal monsters will be lifted in the air on the 1st hit of this attack.
  • Players will be knockdown on the 2nd hit of this attack.
  • Using this skill will unlock [Ground Bash] and [Glaive Strike] to be used as a chain skill for 5 seconds. 
  • The 2nd hit will add +1 runemark if you successfully hit the target. 
  1. (4) Increase base damage by 20%.
  2. (4) Increase base damage by 25%.
  3. (2) Decrease MP cost by 100.
  4. (4) Increase crit chance by x2.

Runeburst XII

  • Cause an explosion around you or your target in a 6m radius. 
  • This skill will consume all runemarks that you've accumulated. 
  • The amount of hits determines how many runemarks you've accumulated. (7 moonlights = 7 hits)
  • This skill will cause stagger against players/minion/normal/BAM monsters.
  • You will recover 100 MP per hit. 
  • This skill cooldown will reset if you accumulated 7 runemark on a target. 
  • This skill has very high chance to crit. 
  1. (4) Increase base damage by 20%.
  2. (3) Increase base damage by 20%.
  3. (3) Increase base damage by 30%.
  4. (3) Receive 5 more Ragnarok points per hit.

Wind Slash XI
Level Learn 2 | 91 MP Cost | 936 Base DMG at max level | 10 Seconds Cooldown
  • Twirl your weapon around hitting enemies twice. 
  • Using this skill will reset the cooldown of [Leaping Slash] and don't need to hit a target. 
  1. (3) Receive 25% base damage buff of Leaping Slash for 10 seconds. Buff will disappear upon usage.
  2. (3) Increase base damage by 20%.

Bloodflower XI
Level Learn 4 | 143 MP Cost | 2,176 Base DMG at max level | 12 Seconds Cooldown | +1 Runemark
  • In 10m in front of you, stab multiple times hitting up to six times. 
  • Land all six hits on the target to stun for 4 seconds. 
  • The last hit will add +1 runemark if successfully hit the target. 
  1. (3) Receive additional 5 Ragnarok points per hit.
  2. (5) Increase crit damage by x2.
  3. (4) Increase crit damage by x2.
  4. (3) Receive 25% base damage buff of [Leaping Slash] for 10 seconds. Buff will disappear upon usage.

Ground Bash XI

  • A basic overhand strike. 
  • This skill will only unlock by using [Leaping Slash] first and you must chain to this skill within 4 seconds.
  • Successfully landing this attack will add +1 runemark.
  1. (5) Increase crit chance by x2.
  2. (4) Increase crit chance by x3.
  3. (4) Increase base damage by 20%.
  4. (3) Increase base damage by 25%.

Dream Slash XI
Level Learn 8 | 200 MP Cost | 3,886 Base DMG at max level | 8 Seconds Cooldown| +1 Runemark
  • Launch a projectile in front of you reaching up to 30 meters. 
  • This skill will always crit if used against airborne or knockdown targets. 
  • If the target has runemarks, landing this attack successfully will earn you +1 runemark and reset the cooldown of [Leaping Slash]. 
  1. (3) Increase casting speed by 20%.
  2. (2) For 5 seconds, decrease target's movement speed by 50%.
  3. (4) Increase damage by x2. 
  4. (5) Increase crit chance by x2.

Charge X

  • Charge forward 20m in front of you and lands a quick strike upon impact. 
  • This skill will stagger players. 
  • This attack will add +1 runemark if the target or yourself doesn't have one.

  2. (2) Increase base damage by 25%.

Dark Herald I
Level Learn 12 | 53 MP Cost | No Base DMG | 18 Seconds Cooldown
  • There must be at least one runemark to use this skill and this skill does not consume moonlights when used. 
  • If a monster/player has runemark embedded on them, then that target will pull any nearby targets within 12m and stun them all for 3 seconds. 
    • If this is used against a player the pull/stun effect will apply, then it won't work on them for the next 20 seconds. 
  • If you have runemarks embedded on you, then you will pull targets around you within 12m and stun for 3 seconds. 
  1. (3) Receive 25% base damage buff of [Runeburst] for 5 seconds. Buff will disappear upon usage.

Glaive Strike IX
Level Learn 16 | 190 MP Cost | 4697 Base DMG at max level | 30 Seconds Cooldown | +2 Runemarks
  • Jump in the air and slam your weapon on the ground hitting anything around you having high chance to knockdown monsters.
  • This skill will knockdown players. 
  • This skill will only unlock by using [Leaping Slash] first and you must chain to this skill within 4 seconds.
  • Successfully landing this attack will add two runemarks.
  1. (4) Increase base damage of 20%. 
  2. (3) Increase base damage of 25%.
  3. (3) Increase base damage of 30%.
  4. (5) Increase crit chance by x2. 
  5. (4) Decrease cooldown by 20%.

Spinning Death IX
Level Learn 20 | 100, 100, 100 MP Cost | 1543, 1543, 2007 Base DMG at max level | 12 Seconds Cooldown | +1 Runemark
  • This attack can subsequently be used up to three times within 5 seconds (or else it will go on cooldown) of each other even if using other skills in-between. You can also hold down this skill to use each subsequent part of this attack as well. When executing the last part of this attack, the skill will finally go on cooldown. 
  • The first and second subsequent attack will stagger players. 
  • The third hit has a high chance to knockdown only minion/normal/BAMs monsters. (not dungeon bosses)
  • The third hit will knockdown players. 
  • Successfully land all subsequent hits will add +1 runemark and reset the cooldown of [Leaping Slash].
  1. (3) Decrease cooldown by 20%.
  2. (4) Successfully land the 3rd hit on a target to earn 3 seconds of increased damage of all skills by 15%.
  3. (4) Successfully land the 3rd hit on a target to earn 3 seconds of increased damage of all skills by 20%.

Backstab VIII

  • Teleport behind the target within 17m. 
  • It will count as i-frame when you disappear. 
  • This will stagger players upon hit.
  • If the target has moonlight, then landing this attack successfully will reset the cooldown of [Leaping Slash].
  1. (4) The next single hit will deal 30% more damage. 

Overhead VII

  • Hits twice.
  • This attack will stun the target for 2.5 seconds. (not dungeon bosses)
  1. (3) Receive 25% damage buff of [Leaping Slash] for 10 seconds. Buff will disappear upon usage.
  2. (4) Decrease cooldown by 20%.
  3. (4) Decrease cooldown by 25%.

Reclamation I

  • Adds one moonlight onto yourself. 
  • If your target has runemarks embedded on them, then it will all transfer to you.

Maelstrom V
Level Learn 40 | 238 MP Cost | 2,661 Base DMG at max level | 52 Seconds Cooldown | +1 per hit for total of 6 Runemarks
  • Swing your weapon around like a tornado hitting multiple times up to six hits and pulling only normal/minion monsters towards you. 
  • The last hit will have a high chance to knock down normal/minion/BAMs monsters. (not dungeon bosses)
  • The last hit will have higher crit chance. (up to x2 crit chance)
  • You will earn Runemarks on every successful hits. 
  1. (5) Increase crit chance by x2. 
  2. (5) Increase crit chance by x3. 
  3. (4) Restore 3% from your Max HP for each hit on target. 
  4. (4) Restore 5% from your Max HP for each hit on target.
  5. (3) Decrease cooldown by 15%.
  6. (3) Increase base damage by 25%.

Shining Crescent IV 
Level Learn 46 | 119, 119 MP Cost | 10,131, 10,330 Base DMG at max level | 50 Seconds Cooldown | +2 Runemarks
  • Swing your weapon in a wide arc in front of you and summon an AoE around you dealing damage to nearby targets.
  • The base damage on the first hit depends how many runemarks you've accumulated.
  • Press the same skill again if you have 7 moonlights on a target to trigger the 2nd part of this attack that will cause a large AoE around you.
  • The 2nd part can be used 5 seconds after the first part of this attack.
    • You can use the 1st part of this skill, use other skills in the process, and then trigger the 2nd part of this attack if you like. 
  • Only Minion/Normal monsters will be lifted in the air on the 1st and 2nd part of this attack. 
  • Causes staggering on players and BAMs on 1st part of this attack. Causes knockdown on BAMs on 2nd part. (dungeon bosses are excluded)
  • This skill has very high chance to crit. 
  • Receive 2 runemarks if the 2nd hit lands on a target successfully. 
  1. (2) Decrease MP cost by 50.
  2. (1) Decrease MP cost by 50.
  3. (4) Increase base damage by 20%.
  4. (4) Increase base damage by 25%.

Balder's Tears I 
Level Learn 52 | 114 MP Cost | No Base DMG | 1 Minute 15 Seconds Cooldown
  • Places a shield on yourself for 15 seconds to reduce damage taken by 70% for up to 3 hits. 
  • While shield is up you are immune to knockdown, stagger, and knockbacks.
  1. (4) For 12 seconds, recover 3% HP from your max HP per seconds.
  2. (3) Decrease cooldown by 20%.

Ragnarok I
Level Learn 58 | 1,000 Ragnarok Cost | No Base DMG | No Cooldown
  • Your Ragnarok meter must be at max of 1,000 to use this skill and will be spent when used. 
  • Reset the cooldown of all skills except for Retaliate and Evasion when you use this skill. 
  • You will receive all the following effects for 25 seconds and you won't be able to accumulate Ragnarok meter while under this effect:
    • Power +50.
    • Attack Speed +20.
    • Attack Range +20%.
    • Decrease cooldown by 60% for all skills that have less than 60 second cooldown.
  1. (5) Increase effect duration by 15%. (so 28.75 seconds duration)

Titansbane I
Level Learn 65 | 175, 175 MP Cost | 2769, 9444 Base DMG at max level | 6 Minutes Cooldown
  • Pierce your weapon on the ground to summon a large AoE around you dealing damage per stack. 
  • During the 1st trigger of this attack, you can charge between 1 ~ 7 seconds where each second will stack this buff up to 5 times.  
  • You can cancel this charge at any time by using a different skill. 
  • Pressing the same skill twice will activate the 2nd trigger dealing damage based on how many stacks you've accumulated.
  • Normal Effect:
    • 1st Trigger: Increases the skill damage of you and your allies by 20% per stack. (up to 5 stacks)
    • 2nd Trigger: Skill damage is determined based on amount of stacks you've accumulated by 20% and crit chance by 20%.
  • While "Ragnarok" is in effect:
    • 1st Trigger: Increases the skill damage of you and your allies by 30% per stack. (up to 5 stacks)
    • 2nd Trigger: Skill damage is determined based on amount of stacks you've accumulated by 30% and crit chance by 30%.

  3. (2) Reduce MP cost by 50.

Passive List

A buff that prevents your Ragnarok Gauge from decaying for 30 seconds. You must hit a target with any skill to refresh the timer back to full again. 

A passive that grants you a moonlight point for each crit you land on normal monsters and players only. Critical hits from Runeburst and Shining Crescent does not count.

Hitting monsters with moonlight skills such as Runeburst and Shining Crescent will have x4 crit chance. (basically 100% crit chance cause lulz)

Hitting monsters with the 4th hit of Slash has x4 crit chance.

Chest Rolls

In case you wanted to know about Bloodflower, it hits a total of six times. 
  1. By default you earn +5 ragnarok points per hit.
  2. This chest roll will make you earn +15 extra ragnarok points per hit.
  3. And there's a glyph that makes you earn +5 extra ragnarok points per hit.
So 25 ragnarok points [x] 6 hits [=] 150 points on your ragnarok meter.



Basic Skill Ideas

Spinning Death > Backstab > Shining Cresent

The last hit from Spinning Death will proc the glyph giving you 3 seconds of 20% damage. Animation cancel to Backstab to proc its glyph that gives 30% damage on the next skill you use. So Shining Cresent ends up receiving a 50% damage boost. Just make sure you have at least 6 runemarks before attempting this combo. (cause spinning death gives +1 runemark)

Starting the fight with full Ragnarok gauge:
Maelstrom > Spinning Death > Backstab > Shining Cresent > Ragnarok

If you are starting the fight with a full gauge, then don't immediately use Ragnarok just yet. Maelstrom and Spinning Death will give you 7 runemarks, then use Shining Cresent. After that you can use Ragnarok because it'll reset the cooldowns of all the skills that you just used. Now you can repeat this again but without activating Ragnarok again!

Use Herald mainly to proc the glyph effect to give Runeburst a 25% damage boost.
