We are once again delighted to return to the Crown Hotel at Boroughbridge for our Christmas Lunch. The lunch is open to ALL York U3A members even if you have not travelled with us before. We very much hope that you will join us on this day which in the last three years has been a very pleasant and sociable time. The food served has also been of a high standard and when shared with friends makes a most enjoyable day.

The cost for the meal,
coach travel and gratuities will be £21.00pp. which is subsidised by the Travel Group. There is a choice of dishes on the menu and as usual a pre- booked choice is necessary. Please make your choices on the booking form and send it together with your cheque to Maureen Barter. If there are two people named on the form please ensure that you tick the choices for each person for each course.

It would also be helpful if it is made clear which choice is for which person. Please keep a record of your choice.

Visit to Halifax - Thursday 25th January 2018

Come with us to see the newly-reopened Piece Hall in Halifax.

Originally opened in 1779, the Hall was the meeting place for the town and the wool factors of the area. Each small room was used by independent sellers of fleece and in its time, the Piece Hall was a bustling, busy place especially on market days. After a period of decline, much money, time and planning has been spent to restore the building to its former glory and now we can see an elegant framework that offers opportunities for small businesses to thrive and the citizens of Halifax a space to gather for events and concerts.

Our coach will take us to the Piece Hall, which is situated in the centre of Halifax, in time for coffee and then exploration of this architectural gem. There is a small exhibition about the history of the Hall close to the tourist office within the site. The town of Halifax is within walking distance (5 mins) with the Borough Market and Calderdale Industrial Museum close by. We will depart from Halifax about 3.30 to be back in York by 5.30.

The cost per person will be £8.50

Booking forms should be sent to Jennie Pugsley at the address on the form.
