CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
Date and Time: Wednesday Evenings 18.00 – 21.15 + 3 Saturdays to be arranged with the group
Starts: February  2019.  Formal Teaching ends in July.
Venue: Kirkgate Centre, Kirkgate, Shipley, BD18 3EH
Cost: £750 including CPCAB registration fee  (monthly instalments available)
Entry Requirements: To be accepted on to the course you need to have studied a Level 2 Counselling Skills qualification or the Modules 1 and 2 or have done the equivalent counselling skills training.  All applicants are expected to have some recent experience of using counselling skills either as a professional worker or as a volunteer. Ability to communicate adequately in both oral and written English is needed.  Successful attendance at an introductory day session is required.

Accessibility, Parking and Transport:  All centres are fully accessible to wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties.  Parking is available at the Centres. There are bus services operating close to these venues.

Intended Audience:   This course is aimed at people with Introductory Counselling Skills Training and/or relevant counselling skills experience, who wish to take the next step towards becoming a counsellor or want to learn more about counselling theory and develop counselling skills.

Course Delivery:  The course will involve active learning with a lot of group work and pair work.  You will further develop and practice counselling skills and will further develop your understanding of theoretical concepts and the counselling field. Class sizes will normally be 10 -12 people to ensure effective learning and tuition. Assessment includes written assignments, self-assessment, skills assessment and presentations.

Course Content: The course will cover the following areas:

* Skills development and practice
* Personal development
* The ethical framework for counselling
* Understanding the counselling relationship
* Understanding difference and diversity issues
* Working within a user-centred approach to counselling
* Theories of counselling and mental health
* Using feedback, reflection and supervision to support counselling studies
* Preparation for progression onto counselling training,  if appropriate

Entry Requirements:  Level 2 Counselling Skills qualification or equivalent and/or counselling skills experience.  Ability to communicate adequately in both oral and written English.  Successful attendance at short interview/introductory session.
